King's Ely 0 Wellingborough 15 (3 tries)

We started out with a lot of hesitation, the carry-over from last week's shellacking against St. Faith's, and Wellingborough took advantage of our sleepiness to score 3 quick tries, and we looked down for the count.

The we woke up! We played with determination and bravery; tackling where we had not before, and not making any concessions in contact.

This meant that we were able to keep Wellingborough scoreless for the final 43 minutes of the game, which was a fine achievement. During this time, many of our players, especially Fred Marshall, Sam Lott and Heath Williams were to the fore.

On the other hand, to be honest, we never looked like scoring a try ourselves. We ran hard, but always into the Wellingborough defensive wall. It was a defensive effort to be proud of, and we have to work more on understanding how to break down defences.
